Homemade Remedies to Get Rid of Acne

Acne vulgaris (commonly called acne) is a common skin disease, caused by changes in pilosebaceous units, skin structures consisting of a hair follicle and its associated sebaceous glands, via androgen stimulation. Acne is the term for plugged pores (blackheads and whiteheads), pimples, and even deeper lumps (cysts or nodules) that may occur on the face, neck, chest, back, shoulders and even the upper arms. The disease is not restricted to any particular age group; it can affect teenagers to adults up to the age of 40. Sometimes severe acne can lead to serious and permanent scarring. Even less severe cases can lead to scarring.

Several factors contribute to the development of acne. Bacteria that normally live on the skin also play a role in acne development. The bacteria known as Propionibacterium acnes are responsible for causing acne. These bacteria produce substances that cause redness and irritation. Certain hormones called Androgen are an additional factor in causing acne.

In order to get acne free, clear healthy skin, proper care should be taken:

1. Wash the skin once or twice daily with soap and water to remove excess oil.

2. Home made facial scrubs can be used to exfoliate the face regularly. Avoid abrasive scrubbing because this can cause acne to worsen.

3. A paste of two table spoon of almond powder, one table spoon of milk and one table spoon of orange juice can be used as a scrub.

4. Tomato juice can be applied to the face which act as a good antioxidant and help the skin to generate healthy looking skin.

5. Cucumber juice can be used for acne scar. It not only lightens the skin tone but also tightens the facial pores.

6. Anti acne cream can also be used for skin rashes and acne scar.

7. Massaging the affected part gently with olive oil also help in fading acne scar.

8. Herbal beauty products containing essential oils like Tea Tree oil, clove oil, Lavender oil, Rose wood oil and Eucalyptus oil are quite helpful in removing scars due to acne.

9. Take 2 tablespoons of orange peel powder and add 4 tablespoons of yoghurt in it. Mix well and make paste of it. Now apply this paste all over the face, while gently rubbing in circular motion. After sometime, wash it off with cold water. It is an ideal mask to extract dirt and oil from the clogged pores. It also opens the clogged pores that cause acne and blackheads.

10. Take a few pods of cloves and roast them dry in a pan. Powder them and add a little curd to make paste of it. Apply this paste on the pimples and leave it to dry. Wash off after the application has dried. This treatment is particularly good for the people who have oily skin.

These skin remedies are based on our common house hold spices, fruits, vegetables or sometimes specific herbs. Herbal remedies are obtained from a wide variety of natural resources including plant leaves, bark, berries, and roots. Natural skin care products are safe and easy to use as they have no side effects. As far as home remedies are concerned, we must keep in mind that these are not miraculous, rather they are slow in action, and need to be used thoroughly and consistently over a long period. Therefore, it is always recommended to take the advice of a health care professional before taking our health in our hands.

However there are several recent researches that seems to prove that having sufficient amount of zinc in our diet can help to cure acne. Antibiotics are prescribed by dermatologist to help cure acne but taking them regularly can cause some serious health implications, but zinc has the same effect like antibiotics but they do not pose any danger to our health.

Zinc can be found in our food such as beans, cashews, kiwis, fish and almonds. We will need to make sure that we have enough zinc in our diet because it plays a big role in keeping us healthy, supports our body essential functions and fight against bacteria.

To absorb zinc adequately, you will need to take note of some of the points that I am going to mention. Always make sure that you are not taking too much of other minerals that will affect your absorption of zinc minerals. Minerals like copper and zinc can interfere with with your body absorption rate of zinc minerals. So ensure that you are not taking any minerals supplements along with zinc minerals.

When you are perspiring, zinc is lost through your perspiration. So if you perspire easily, eat more zinc supplements. Always keep in mind not to take over 100 mg of zinc supplements as it can be poisonous for your body.

Another one big advantage of using the holistic approach to treat acne is that there are no harmful side effects at all as compared to conventional treatments of taking antibiotics and accutane.

Leading Causes Of Male Acne

Acne has one major cause: raised hormonal levels. This hormonal level rise causes an increased production of bodily oils, which clog up the pores of the skin. This oil, as well as deceased skin cells, which have been trapped in pores, ultimately leads to the formation of acne.

While it is less common in men than it is in woman, many adult males internationally suffer the curse of acne and the extreme humiliation and mortification caused by the unsightly disease.

Found on the neck, face, back, and chest of male sufferers, male acne can be caused by a variety of things such as a weak immune system, poor nutrition, over enthusiastic exercise as well as the use of drugs designed to enhance performance. It can even be caused by as simple a thing as shaving.

Today’s fast paced world, where people have what I call “hit and run” diets, is also a major cause of acne in men. Hit and run diets are where you never stop for a proper healthy meal, you just grab a burger or “take out” and keep on working. A poor diet, lacking in the necessary vitamins and minerals can stimulate the sebaceous gland, thus causing it to produce excess sebum. It is this excess sebum that blocks the pores and thus results in acne. A weak or low immune system can have the same results.

Men who, exercise excessively or often, such as male athletes, often suffer from acne, due to excessive heat, perspiration, and friction on the skin caused by the clothes worn during exercise.

Drugs designed to enhance performance, such as anabolic steroids, upset and change the hormonal levels. Men who suffer from acne tend to have high levels of a masculine sex hormone known as “androgen.” This hormone is the biggest culprit for the cause of acne.

The male act of shaving unwanted hair from the face can cause acne, but it can also make acne that is already present much worse, due to the fact that a blunt blade can cut existing pimples. Preferably use a safety razor or an electric razor and always make sure the blades are kept sharp. Keep away from razors with multi blades, it may feel like they are leaving your skin smoother and therefore healthier, but each extra blade adds an extra chance of damaging the epidermis, thus increasing the chance of acne forming.
